Happy Easter!

We had a great Easter Sunday. Matt was on camera duty that day so hopefully I can add some Easter pictures to this post later.  The kids were excited to see their baskets.  Jack finally got Star Wars toys.  He got Luke and Yoda and was so excited.  Hank got Han Solo and Chewbacca, but was more excited about the candy and just ate and ate and ate all morning long.   In the morning my brother Nate and his daughter Paris came over for a pancake bar and an egg hunt.  I love Easter.  I really love egg hunts and I thought our yard was pretty fun for hiding eggs.  I got to hide them all but couldn't even remember where they were just twenty minutes later.  I guess the kids will get a surprise sometime out in the yard.  In the afternoon we went to Sharon's house and had a great dinner with quite a few of Matt's family.  That night I let Jane stay up late and make some pom-pom pets that she got Easter.

Jane's half-birthday was also on Sunday but we celebrated it on Saturday instead.  I love making them half-birthday cakes because so far they never see it coming.  Jane couldn't believe she was 8 1/2 years old.  She said that turning 8 was just a small number but turning 9 is huge.  She can't believe she is only 4 1/2 years away from being a teenager.  I can't either!

The kids had Spring parties at school on Friday.  I volunteered at both of them.  They were so excited.  Especially Jack.  He talked about how I was going to go to his party all week.  I'm glad it made them happy because it is surprisingly SUPER boring to be at a party station and have to do the same activity with six groups of kindergarteners.

Jane wrote a note to her Grandma Griner that said, "If you know some interesting facts about birds, tell me about them, and also about how I can make the world better for them."  I thought that was so sweet.

You know that kid in Toy Story that breaks all his toys?  Our neighbor kid Scottie reminds me of him.  He breaks everything.  One time Jack had just bought a new transformer with his own money and it had just come in the mail.  Jack told me that Scottie had the same one but it was broken and he was excited to show Scottie his new one AND to tell him how to transform it the right way so that it doesn't break.  So before Jack could finish explaining how to transform it Scottie grabbed it and said, "I already know how to do it, like this."  Snap and broken.  He has broken other stuff, but I try, TRY, not to get too upset.  Anyway, when Jack showed Scottie that Hank had gotten Chewbacca Scottie said, "I have that one and it isn't even broken yet!"  Then he showed him Han Solo and Scottie said, "I have that too!  But the gun is broken."  Scottie is funny in other ways too.  He gets really annoyed with me when the kids can't play.  He doesn't allow me to just say, "Sorry, the kids can't play right now."  He will say, "But it's Monday and they don't have to do their chores right after school on Monday", or "It's not six yet so I know you aren't eating dinner."  And if the kids aren't done with their chores yet he will just stand right outside the door or the window and stare inside the house until they are done.  Other times, if I tell him that he needs to go home and I'll send the kids over when they can play, he will just sit outside of our gate and stare into the window.

I taught Pete how to give high fives and pounds.  It's awesome.

Hank keeps peeing his pants just a little before he will finally admit to needing to use the bathroom.  It's starting to drive me crazy but Hank's response every time is "But it's not all the way!"  I keep trying to explain to him that the goal is to have NO pee in his undies.  So about 1-4 times a day I say, "Hank, did you pee your pants?!"  And Hank smiles and says, "Not all da waaaaay."  It's a cute little laundry problem.

On April 1st Matt took Jane to school and told her it was April Fool's day and not to let anyone trick her.  She said, "Oh my gosh, I'm going to be on the lookout.  There's probably going to be a lot of, 'look over there!' and there won't be anything."  To which Matt interjected with, "Look at that dog on the sidewalk!"  She looked. :)
