I've been trying to squeeze in some summer fun before school starts. I feel so bad that we never went on vacation or anything. So, the kids are really looking forward to a "movie sleepover" night when we let them stay up late watching movies, eating junk food, and falling asleep in the living room. As for this week we managed to make homemade popsicles, play some sidewalk chalk games, make homemade lemonade, go to Farm Country, and check out a new park.
Pete has been saying more words this week. They still aren't really to communicate, but it's really cute nonetheless. He will put a pretend phone (or any item that looks like a phone) up to his ear, then take it away quickly and say, "Bye!". He likes to lock and unlock the door and kept saying "Hi". He loves to do a free-fall drop from the arm rest of the couch and one time, said just like the other kids, "Watch out" before falling. He is saying dad a lot more, too. He never says mom, but does sometimes call me Dad. He yells, "Da!" It's adorable. Like, if he hears the shower running he will stand outside the bathroom door yelling, "Da!"
We had a great time at Farm Country. The weather was beautiful and it was just me and the three oldest. They got to do two pony rides, a tractor-wagon ride, to see a peacock with his feathers open, and pet baby bunnies.
Apparently Pete loves playgrounds. He insisted on climbing everything himself and loves to go down slides. I was so nervous to send him down bigger slides without knowing how fast they would be but he threw a fit if I tried to help him in any way.
Here are a video and photos of Pete playing at the park.
