Ok, I'm going to have to make this short. But I have to keep my resolution to blog once a week, so I've got to write something!
Hank is so polite. When I serve him lunch he still always asks, before taking a bite, "Please I eat this?" He has been really into picking his nose lately and is always bringing me a booger to dispose of. I am trying to teach him to walk to the bathroom, get some toilet paper, and throw it away, but he'd rather I just deal with it. So one day we were in the car and he held out his finger and said, "Please I eat booger?" I laughed and said, "Ewww, no!" He laughed and said, "At night, when I in my bed, I eat booger."
Hank is funny about what scares him on TV. The weirdest things will scare him, like an animated ogre on PBS Super Why, yet he can sit through all the old Star Wars movies and not bat an eye. Anyway, the kids and I have been enjoying watching Planet Earth together sometimes. Hank asks, literally about every three minutes, "It scary?" Any time the music gets ominous he hides behind his hands and asks it about every three seconds until the predator/prey scene is over.
Jane went to an Activity Days talent night. All the girls, 8-11 shared a talent. There were a lot of girls. Jane had brought some drawings and a hummingbird report that she had done that day just for fun at home. Jane looses sleep over the excitement of reports. She can't wait to come downstairs and start typing out her report. Anyway, we decided it was a talent of hers. But after sitting through the 15th piano/dance/gymnastic routine she turned to me and said, "I am NOT reading my report." I'm not proud of myself, but I bribed her with three dollars and two mini Twix ice-cream bars. It worked. She did so well. Lots of people came up to her afterwards and said they never knew hummingbirds could (fill in the blank). I told her later that I was a little sad I had bribed her because she missed out on feeling like she decided to be brave on her own. She told me that had I not bribed her she wouldn't have read it at all so therefore I had made the right decision. Too funny.
Jack started tball. He has been so cute about it. Months ago when I asked him what sport, if any, he wanted to play this summer he said, "Baseball is my thing." I don't know when that started but he seems to believe it. A couple weeks ago he was asking when baseball was going to start so I looked up on the internet what day the coaches were going to be meeting and told him that we would hear from his coach a couple of days after that. But he didn't quite understand because the Wednesday I said that they would be meeting he came down early in the morning, already dressed, and when we asked why he said he was ready to meet his coach. SOOOOO cute. He had his first practice. Matt was nervous that Jack didn't know much about baseball and I said I was pretty sure that there was nothing to worry about. Sure enough, Matt reported that it was complete chaos and kids were running everywhere without a clue.
Pete is still the same. Cute, lovable, and insanely needy.

Is it better to eat the boogers or wipe them on the wall at night. One of my children had there wall so dirty. When I realized what it was, she had a cleaning job to do. Love it that Jane read her report and got so many compliments. It's ok to reward them once in awhile to get them to do something. Think about it. Don't we do everything for a reward. Even if it's to clean the toilet. The reward is a nice clean toilet.
Last summer my neighbor cut down a branch from her tree that had a hummingbird nest in it. It had two little birds in it too. It was so tiny! I have picture of it, I just haven't blogged it yet. I'll send it to you on Facebook. Since there were still babies in it, she duct-taped it back into the tree!
Tball is the BEST sport in the world. I never laughed so hard as when Gary played T-ball. Enjoy!
I just finished binge-reading your blogs. So hilarious! And, it gives me insight into your kids. They are so savvy. I love Jack's comment about not needing to put a piece of paper next to his cheek. And Jane is so good to train her parents. Regarding tardiness, that's one of the big regrets from Granger's childhood. I think he ran to class everyday of his school years. Couldn't I get up five minutes earlier? I wasn't the perfect mom; time to move on.
I just read Mom's comment. Lest you think less of one of my angel sisters, I will fess up. I remember the crime, but not the punishment, it was a really long time ago.
