Jack turns two!

Well, Jack turned two over one month ago. It is instances just like that that make me feel terribly sad and disappointed in myself that my family moments are much too under recorded lately. Especially when it comes to my Jack. You see, I'm sure you know that I find Jane to be hilarious and smart. When she was two years old I'm sure you had no doubt who my world revolved around-- you know, back in the day of 4-6 posts a month with the majority being about her. These days I'm lucky to get one post a month. And that worries me. It worries me that I am not conveying (to you, to my future self, and to my future Jack) that the mere thought of what Jack means to me nearly always puts an emotional lump in my throat.

So, let me spell it out for you (and us) with my birthday letter to my sweet and extremely special boy.

Dear Jack,

There may not be as many photos or as many blog posts written about you, as compared to your older sister, but I want you to know that each moment with you has been every bit as cherished. You have had to share me, almost always, with Jane. I haven't been able to give you as much of my undivided attention as I would have liked. But, in return, you have given me everything. I don't know how I would have survived this past year without you in my life. It hasn't been the easiest year of my life, although it also hasn't been particularly hard. It was just a year where I often found it difficult to be cheerful from day to day. But I want you to know that you have brought me the brightest rays of sunshine each day. I can't imagine my life without you in it. Just being with you has always filled me with a strong sense of happiness, gratitude, and contentment. You are a very special little boy. You are quick to smile and love easily. You say Hi to every stranger we pass, which has helped me to come out of my shell and say hello too. You are fun-loving and curious and somehow both easy-going and strong-willed. And it doesn't hurt that you happen to be the cutest little feller I've ever laid eyes on. I am so proud and grateful to be your mother.

Love,
Mom

Now, let's PARTY!

For Jack's birthday we decided on a bubble theme. I forgot to inform Matt that he should act as a professional party photographer and get a picture of every last detail of the party. So there is actually no picture of the food table that was full of "pop" items. Blow pops, bubble gum, soda pop, popcorn, popsicles, and cupcakes that were supposed to resemble bubbles-mini and regular cupcakes frosted with white and shades of blue.

For the fun we had a bubble machine, lots of bubble wands for the kids, a bubbly pool, and a giant bubble show. Jack and the kids seemed to have a blast. See for yourself. (and a special thanks to the Sabins for sharing their party pics)

Adorable photos of Jack! Wow- he's getting to be a big little boy! :) Looks like a wonderful party. Try not to worry to much about your memory keeping and just do what you can. Maybe you've slipped a bit but that would just take you from perfect to great! :) Times change-- love doesn't. (i was apparently logged in as livvy so i deleted the comment and signed in appropriately.)

Jack is adorable. Believe me no one gets as many pictures and comments as number one child. You're doing great.

I'm so glad that we finally got to share pictures with someone for once. And our iphone pics don't look bad all blown up like that. Kids loved the party. Of course you and Julie love to make me look bad. Maddie was so excited to go to Jack's party because, "Ella always does really cool stuff for parties."

i feel your pain. I often panic that I'm not doing enough for Caden or Jude. I guess in the end, if they feel loved and special, then it doesn't matter that there are fewer pictures of them. Although it now it makes me feel guilty!
